The Magic of Birthdays!

Candy Land Cake

Happiness is…

A Candy Land party table

I love birthdays, especially my own! And being the mother of four and the oldest of 6 we have a lot of birthdays! As a result of multiple birthday celebrations throughout the year we rarely throw a large party. Now I know large is relative, but to us it means anything beyond immediate family.

Recently I made a cake (pictured above) for an absolutely cute and refreshingly simple large birthday party. The “Candy Land” theme truly inspired the hostess and led to a lovely, never ending abundance of colorful candies and old fashioned lollies placed in glass vases. There were bold primary table cloths, a delicious chocolate fountain and the sweetest little gingerbread cutout peanut butter and jellies! This truly was a lovely party!

All of this has really gotten me into the birthday party mood. My baby girl’s first birthday is coming up and I am proud to say I am actually going to have a party. A Raggedy Ann and Andy Tea Party! This will still be a small party but it will involve mini quiches, tea sandwiches, and most importantly guests outside of our immediate family (Something that hasn’t happened in a little over two years)!

The cake is going to be a simple buttercream, but I am going to be making modeling chocolate figurines. Over the course of the next week I will post recipes, invitations, pictures and walk through the course of my planning step by step. Hopefully this will be fun for all of you who are interested in cake decorating! For those of you who are: Be brave and try anything!!

I’m so glad you liked it! It was definitely one of my favorite games and it truly was a joy to make! The candy table was done by my friend Tosha Mabry! She is really quite the hostess and she hosts all her gatherings with a real genuine kindness!
